- Rayleigh was inspired and named after a real life pirate named Sir Walter Raleigh. Sir Walter Raleigh was a 16th Century privateer and explorer. It should also be noted that the last name Raleigh was spelled over 40 different ways. One of those was spelled “Rayleigh.”
- Rayleigh still has a physical active bounty for his arrest by the World Government. The amount of his actual bounty however is unknown. This was confirmed when Rayleigh fought Kizaru and offered for him to get rid of his wanted poster and then he would go into retirement.
- Silvers Rayleigh’s name wasn’t just inspired by the pirate Sir Walter Raleigh. Rayleigh’s name was also inspired by Rayleigh Scattering. Rayleigh Scattering is the scattering of light and this was teased when Rayleigh was fighting Kizaru where he literally scattered his light attacks.
- Silvers Rayleigh was a former member of Roger’s Pirates. With Gold D. Roger being the captain, he is first, and with Silvers Rayleigh, he was second in line. This relationship is similar to Gold being more valuable than Silver, and is a play on their first names.
- Roger’s Pirate crew were noted to be the top strongest pirates in the world and the highest in reputation. Alongside that is the theme of rare metals with the members names. First there is Gold D. Roger, Silvers Rayleigh, and then there is another member named Scopper Gaban (who has Copper in their name).
- Rayleigh was ranked 32 in the fifth fan poll.
- He is the first former member of Roger’s Pirates to still have an active Bounty.
- Coby and Rayleigh share the same birthday.
- Rayleigh loves woman and alcohol. This is a statement made by Shakky, and was proven when he saved Keimi from being mistreated from disco. While doing this he was holding a flask that contained alcohol.
- When it was revealed that Red Hair Shanks and Buggy were apart of Roger’s pirates, a fan asked Oda about the subordinate captain under Roger who scolded both Shanks and Buggy. Oda didn’t want to reveal that it was Silvers Rayleigh yet, so instead he told Toei Animation to not call Silvers Rayleigh captain.
