Hey guys. One Piece is currently heading to the conclusion of the Whole Cake Island. Luffy and co. had set out to get back their friend Sanji. At Whole Cake Island, we came across tons of strong devil fruit users and one of them actually has an awakened devil fruit. Before you read any further, I’d like to point out that this post has spoilers, so read ahead at your own risk. Most people believe that the awakening of a Paramecia type devil fruit is changing the surroundings.
However, we can’t just readily assume that this is true in case of every paramecia. Katakuri can produce Mochi out of nowhere. Doflamingo can turn his surroundings into strings.What if Luffy’s awakening is something different and unique? As we know that Oda manages to introduce some new powers in a spectacular fashion. So, what if Luffy gains complete and total control of rubber in his body.
It would be too simple and boring tbh if Luffy’s awakening is the same as Doffy. I don’t think Luffy will be able to turn his surroundings into rubber. Luffy’s awakening will give him total control over rubber. He was gain the power to manipulate all the rubber INSIDE in his body. Here’s a small idea of how it could work. As of now, Luffy has different gears and requires to blow air into his bones for Gear Third and into his muscles for Gear Fourth.
However once his awakens his devil fruit he could quickly turn his arms and fists the size of Gear 3 or Gear 4. Thus, killing the need of having to blow air to his bones or muscles. He will have free and complete control over his rubber body and thus could change the properties of rubber for eg, to add increased elasticity for Tank-man while also being able to maintain a strong and dense property (like Bounce-man). It could even be possible for Luffy stretch and maintain a size and density of about Nightmare Luffy, or even a full body Gear 3. Awakening your devil fruit doesn’t necessarily mean new powers, it can also give you better control over your powers.
