Oda Reveals The True Power of Shanks’ Conqueror’s Haki! – OtakuKart

Shanks is one of the strongest people in the world of One Piece. He is one of the Yonko, who have absolute authority in the New World, and are the emperors. Being one of the strongest Pirates ever, Shanks has displayed the usage of Conqueror’s Haki. This is a form of Haki that is extremely rare. It is said that only one in a million people possess this kind of Haki.

While many others, like Luffy, also have this power, not many have the mastered this ability yet. Shanks however, seems to be a master of this ability, as it was evident when he arrived on Whitebeard’s ship, the Moby Dick back when he wanted to talk about Ace. He was one of the very few people who showed the ability to do physical damage using Haoshoku Haki, which makes him exceptionally powerful.

There are several fan-theories regarding Shanks and his Conqueror’s Haki. most suggest that Shanks’s Conqueror’s Haki might let him bend the space-time. Ye argument behind this, is that Shanks appears that places without even leaving traces, and he just emerges out of nowhere. If he were to have the ability to bend time, all this would actually become possible. Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, was himself asked about the power of Shanks’Conqueror’s Haki, and here’s what he had to say:

D: Luffy’s haoshoku haki was able to affect 50,000 men, but how many would Shanks and the others be able to defeat? P.N. Captain Nobuo

O: In exactly the same place and exact same situation as Luffy, Shanks or Rayleigh may havebeen capable of knocking out all 100,000. In a different setting, you can’t really compare just by asking “how many people”. Being able to knock an enemy out with haki depends entirely on having an overwhelming power gap between the two. In Luffy’s case the point is thenumber of people that were so weak that they were not even worth him fighting. If there were 100,000 to-some-extent-strong-willed pirates before him, it’s possible that he wouldn’t even be able to knock out a single one. On a related note, as one’s proficiency with haoshoku advances, it’s even possible to target a few people in a crowd to NOT knock out.

So, Shanks’ Conqueror’s Haki is indeed one of his most lethal weapons. It seems Shanks’ power is more than twice Luffy’s power as well. With the new revelation about Haki and it’s true powers in the manga, I suspect Shanks is truly a master of Haoshoku Haki, and he can do thing with it that are unheard of. But, we’ll definitely see that in the future of One Piece, when the time comes. Till then, we’ll have to wait.
